Gremlin Talk Radio

Our first ever Siren Speak blog talk radio show has taken place... riddled with ridiculous tech glitches including how the site decided to start our show 4 hours later than scheduled as it mysteriously (and wrongly) determined that my timezone is that of Samoa!!!!

Suffice it to say, we can only improve *wink*

For now, here is the affable Bonnie Ramsburg of the Bonnie's Lasses salon in Akron, OH.  Listen at your own risk!

Siren News - September 2014

Featuring Gnubie Gnuscaster Amanda Roncalio-Meyer!

·      September has indeed been the month of the siren, as 4 salonnieres have been trained and certified, and their salons officially opened in Ohio, Georgia, and both Northern and Southern California. See their links in the description section below this video to learn about all of their upcoming local events and activities.
·      If you’ve been toying with the idea of opening a salon of your own, the next Salonniere Training session will be held by videochat on October 5th.  Salonniere Sanndi Thompson of Georgia’s Bohemian Belles had this to say about her training session: "Most people think of training sessions as mundane or grueling, but I am here to tell you the training for Siren School Salonnieres is not at all your average class session! It is fun, informative, relaxed and inspiring. Joy Siren comes through in video chat just like she does in her posts, being that she is vibrant, sparkling, and full of life and light. More light is shed upon Siren School in this training and what it entails to be a Salonniere and have a chapter in your own town.So come on and be a Salonniere and spread the Joy!" Certification is currently free to all enrolled Siren School students, so don’t miss your chance to turn your dream events into reality and happy memories
·      Dust off that old copy of Pride & Prejudice and take gran’s old teacup off the shelf to join in the nationwide Jane Austen themed Austentatious Afternoon Tea on November 8th. All are invited to participate either online or at their local salon. There will be games, trivia, prizes, and tea!
·      Looking for a new idea when it comes to a friend’s birthday party, a bachelorette bash, or get-together with your social group?  Siren Soirees offer a variety of fantastical and culturally enriching sireny themes such as:  Genie Dreams, Bollywood Bash, Island Hukilau, Mermaid Moments, Flapper Fete, Inside the Faerie Ring, Moulin Rouge Spectacle, Gypsy Jamboree, Pin-Up Play Date, Manners Mavens etiquette instruction, Charm Class, Hospitalitea parties and more
·      To take your event to the next level, add a Dance Party to your soiree.  Fantasy Fitness Instructor are trained to teach 1-hour dance parties as well as 6-week class sessions.  Dance styles include: Bollywood, Polynesian, Can-Can, Charleston, Burly-Q, Samba, Flamenco, Gypsy, GoGo, Circus Arts, Mermaid aquatic dance and so on
·      If you can’t find a Siren Soiree Producer or Fantasy Fitness Instructor in your local area, consider becoming one yourself!  It’s a rewarding part-time job that puts you in touch with the siren community in a variety of rewarding ways
·      The holidays are coming and so are your opportunities to ask for a Mythic Adventure getaway as a gift. Full-immersion theme experience take you to destinations New Orleans, Chicago, Cozumel, a desert oasis, just to name a few.  Once there, excursions abound, as well as opportunities to laze in the sun and sight-see
·      Practically all of the activities mentioned in this newscast earn Siren School students Plunder reward ducats.  If you’re not yet enrolled, click the link in the description section below this video. Annual enrollment is only $25 and allows you to start plundering immediately. It’s a great way to earn ducats you can cash in for everything from a custom-mermaid tail to a weekend in San Francisco or even a 5-day Total Sirenity trip to Hawaii!
·      Don’t miss out on your chance to pre-order Siren’s Treasure by Debbie Herbert, the follow up to Siren's Secret, available through Harlequin Nocturne, to be published Nov 1st.  It’s a Southern Supernatural Romance – Where love, like magic, casts its own spell of enchantment.
And now, the latest from our newly certified salonnieres:
·      Bonnie's Lasses is Ohio's first Siren School Salon. Bonnie says, “I'm certified as a Salonniere, Siren Soiree Producer and Fantasy Fitness Instructor. Allow ME to be a part of YOUR next girls night in, birthday or party with a Bollywood Blast or Genie Dreams and Genie Belly Bliss themed event. Throw the ordinary out the window and let the extraordinary in the front door.”
·      Salonniere Kimberley Thomson Morris says of her salon, “Things are slowly starting to happen here at the Intrepid Ladies Adventure Club and Tea Society. Since we have gained full salon status, I have been furiously planning amazing adventures and wondrous teas for the enjoyment of our members and their guests. Our first gathering will be a Witch's Tea on October 18, 2014 and on November 8, 2014, our salon will hold its Austentatious Afternoon Tea for new members at the Quail and Thistle Tea House in Capitola, California. December will find us at the Great Dicken's Christmas Faire on the 6th. Costumes are encouraged, but hardly necessary. There is shopping, roaming street entertainers, and a wonderful tea room at The San Francisco Cow Palace which is transformed in to Victorian London just for the occasion. Next year there will be hikes, and beach trips, and lunch in the city, and...well, you get the idea.”
·      Georgia now has a Siren School Salon of its own – The Bohemian Belles, where a bit of bohemian flair and southern charm fuse together. Go on a ghost tales tour at Oakland Cemetery, one of Georgia's most historical cemeteries, or join the belles for a belly dance show, or perhaps have a moonlight picnic among the fireflies and magnolias. Let Bohemian Belles help ignite your bohemian soul and let your gypsy spirit soar!
·      Sarah Gates of the Sea Jewels salon shares, “Do you live in the San Diego or Riverside, California area? Are you looking for some new gal pals to make a splash with? Well jump in, the water’s fine at the Sea Jewel Siren School Salon! The Sea Jewels are gearing up to be an integral part of November 8th’s Austentatious Afternoon Tea – in fact, we helped inspire it! For more information, visit us at SirenSeaJewels.com.”
·      La Vie Sirene magazine is now in its second year of publication. Join its rowdy bunch of contributors for their Villains issue kick-off party on Facebook on Oct 1.  And feel free to contribute your own thoughts and stories to the Holiday Traditions and Tea issues.  Or advertise your sireny business or project in the magazine or Siren School’s theme-specific sites

What you really reflect

What do you see when you look in the mirror?
How would you describe your reflection?

If you're seeing lumps of misshapen sagging flesh when you look in the mirror, the long-term solution is to use a different mirror.  Your physiognomy doesn't truly define you. Your character does.

The verb "to reflect" includes the definition "to think, to ponder."  When we reflect on a topic we consider it deeply and reverently.  We deserve to consider ourselves the same way, not just according to the shallow image offered by a material mirror.

The poignant video below puts true shape into proper perspective.

If you want to see what you what you're really like, look at yourself through the eyes of those who love you best.  You'll find out you shine with a beauty that never fades, but gets better with each passing day.

Certified Fresh!

Our first class of salonnieres has survived training and they are now ready to take their regions by storm. Here's what some of them had to say about the experience:

"It was amazing to finally put faces and voices to names on the screen. It was tons of fun too, chatting about everything Siren. I learned a lot about the Siren School programs like Plunder, the Salons, and we even touched on the Fantasy Fitness courses too. I HIGHLY recommend the training. It is invaluable." —Kimberley Thomson Morris, certified salonniere of the Intrepid Ladies Adventure Club and Tea Society - Hollister, CA

"Most people think of training sessions as mundane or grueling, but I am here to tell you the training for Siren School Salonnieres is not at all your average class session! It is fun, informative, relaxed and inspiring. Joy Siren comes through in video chat just like she does in her posts, being that she is vibrant, sparkling, and full of life and light. More light is shed upon Siren School in this training and what it entails to be a Salonniere and have a chapter in your own town.So come on and be a Salonniere and spread the Joy!" —Sanndi Thompson, certified salonniere of the Bohemian Belles - Fayetteville, GA

"My first piece of advice, if you need somebody else to help you set up your video chat, don't wait an hour before time for it to start, to find out that they hadn't done it yet. Other than that, it was fun, interesting and so exciting and entertaining to see and hear people that I've only chatted with through facebook. I enjoyed hearing everyone's thoughts on the different Siren aspects, and learning more about the different Siren School programs, such as the Siren Soirees and Fantasy Fitness. I would SERIOUSLY recommend reading the guide that Joy provides for us. Trust me, you'll want to do this! There are questions she asks, and you'll want to have the answers beforehand, as she will catch you off guard if you don't! I can't wait for the next one! To the future Salonniere Trainees, Good luck and more importantly, HAVE FUN!" —Bonnie Ramsburg, certified salonniere of Bonnie's Lasses - Akron, OH

Adventure comes to NorCal

Newly certified salonniere Kimberley Thomson Morris shares a wee bit about her irresistible new salon:

"Things are slowly starting to happen here at the Intrepid Ladies Adventure Club and Tea Society. Since we have gained full Salon status, I have been furiously planning amazing adventures and wondrous teas for the enjoyment of our members and their guests. Our first gathering will be a Witch's Tea on October 18, 2014. I am still looking for the perfect place in which to hold it. Weather permitting, it might even be outdoors. On November 8, 2014, the Audacious Afternoon Tea will be held at the Quail and Thistle Tea House in Capitola, CA. It is a quaint little Victorian house that has been transformed into an exquisite tea shoppe. Weather permitting, it will be held on their patio, which is lovely. December will find us at the Great Dicken's Christmas Faire on the 6th. Costumes are encouraged, but hardly necessary. There is shopping, roaming street entertainers, and a wonderful tea room. No need to worry about the weather. The San Francisco Cow Palace is transformed in to Victorian London, so it is entirely indoors.

As for next year, there will be hikes, and beach trips, and lunch in the city, and...well, you get the idea. There will be at least one event every month. I can not wait to meet you all. Please do join me on some adventures!"

Georgia gets a peachy new Siren School Salon

Fayetteville, GA is the lucky home of the new Bohemian Belles, the social group run by Salonniere Sanndi Thompson.  Sanndi is a professional artist whose work has been featured in La Vie Sirene magazine. She's also been Siren School's biggest and most enduring supporter. And now, she is part of the team!... or as we call it, our equipe!  Here are her own words about herself and her budding salon:
Hi I'm Sanndi. Although it is true that I am a genuine born and raised southern gal, I have however always had a wanderlust for exotic places, cultures, and adventures; thus the name Bohemian Belles. I'm an artist who paints belly dancers, mermaids, and other goddessy type images and the mystical. I am also a belly dance enthusiast myself. I enjoy writing, reading, swimming, walking, yoga, traveling, eating (yes- eating!) haha! Such are the pleasures of life! Yes? Another of my interests here lately is aromatherapy, and I have been concocting my own bath salts and room sprays and lotions and potions.

I am drawn to the mystical, paranormal, philosophical, inspirational, creative genres of life and would love for like-minded kindred souls to join me in some Siren School Soiree adventures!

Although I don't have an actual tangible gypsy caravan in real life (yet) I aim for us to "travel" and have vibrant, whimsical, serendipitous adventures, gatherings, soirees, shindigs, whatever you choose to call them! So come on and don that kooky hat with the feathers on it, or wear that fringed shawl,(you know, the one that is at the back of your closet.) Buy those jingly earrings that you've had your eye on or that toe ring, take those dance classes that you've always pondered. (Siren School has some doozies offered!)
So step through the beaded doorway with me and become more of the vibrant spirit that you are!
You can find Sanndi via her site, or Facebook page, or in-person at the events she and her salon will be hosting in Georgia.
