The Unflappables

Flappers—1920's Jazz Babies

Zelda Fitzgerald, personification of the Lost Generation

Flapper in the 1920s was a term applied to a "new breed" of young Western women who wore short skirts, bobbed their hair, listened to jazz, and flaunted their disdain for what was then considered acceptable behavior. Flappers were seen as brash for wearing excessive makeup, drinking, treating sex in a casual manner, smoking, driving automobiles and otherwise flouting social and sexual norms. Flappers had their origins in the period of Liberalism, social and political turbulence and increased transatlantic cultural exchange that followed the end of World War I, as well as the export of American jazz culture to Europe.

Course Archives

Yes, Siren School really is a school.
No, probably not like the kind you're used to.
Our curriculum centers around topics of interest to sirens.  These include female archetypes, exotic locales, food, fantasy, fashion, fitness.... After all, isn't that what everyone's interested in?

By student request, we are now beginning to catalogue past themes posted on our social media pages, beginning with those we didn't even realize we were featuring.  We have around 100 albums so we'll add to this list little by little each week, most likely while watching past seasons of Game of Thrones.  There's a good chance the list will be up-to-date by season 4.

If you'd like to see your topic of choice showcased, just put a bee in our bonnet by emailing us at LecoleSirene@gmail.com.
