A comprehensive social etiquette course covering everything from the basics to the bewildering. Open to all levels of experience and expertise.
Getaway experience is in two parts. Both days include lunch and tea in the afternoon. The first day involves social etiquette instruction, table manners, gifting and so on. Please bring a little something for our gift exchange, whether 'found' or purchased, $5 max, please. Day two is a practical workshop where you will plan a party of your choosing. Please bring anything you wish to use in planning your party such as recipes, invitations and party favor supplies. You are welcome attend one or both days. The Night Before (7-10pm): Enchante Socialite! If you are able to motor into town the evening before, please join us for a lovely relaxed dinner at Lasher's. You're sure to feel right at home in this California bungalow turned fine dining spot
DAY #1: Social Graces - Please bring oodles of questions, your $5 gift and a hearty appetite

- Charmed, I'm Sure (9-9:45am) introductions, etiquette essentials & evolution, manners & womanners, small talk
- ...And Chew Gum (9:45-10:15) multitasking, elocution, posture, focus
- Coffee break (10:15-10:30am)
- Out and About (10:30-11:15am) phones, restaurants, theater, sporting events, theme parks, shopping, tipping
- Brisk break (11:15-11:30am)
- Consequences (11:30am-12noon) social media (including reviews), behavior at the office, with charitable committees, the neighbors, extended family
- Luncheon is served (12noon-1pm) table service & settings, managing your accoutrements, how to master challenging utensils and pesky fare; (this will be a rather light lunch as we will be having tea in just a few short hours)
- Be a Guest (1-1:30pm) whether just for dinner... or for days on end

- Prix Fixe Gourmet Dinner (7-9pm) at Delius; Menu: Lobster, Crab and Avocado Salad, Sweet Corn Ice Cream, Penne Pasta, Spicy Sausage, Mushroom Cream, Rack of Lamb, Hazelnut Butter, Roasted Shallot Purée (contact Delius directly regarding dietary restrictions)
DAY #2: Hostess How-To workshop- Basics and details of party planning and execution. please bring your basic ideas (and attendant recipes, invitations, party favor goodies, etc.) for an event you would like to organize, to be held at least one month hence. By the time you leave you will be ready to host your soiree... in style!
9am-5pm for basic session (optional breakfast served at 8am for our overnight socialites, as well as dinner at day's end)
- Basics of event planning: the importance of defining your theme, tone and style, and making it appropriate to the event

- Planning your party: type of event, the indispensable to do list, guest list, place cards, centerpieces, food, invitations, entertainment...

- Getting crafty - bring your favorite invitations or elements & ideas to work with. We are actually going to make invitations here
- Current verbiage and etiquette, addressing, stamps

- Momentous meal-planning - bring cookbooks and recipe ideas
- Prepare menu, shopping lists, timetable
Diva in the Details (2:30-3:30pm)
- How to receive guests & what to do once you have them there
- Place & menu cards
- Seating chart
- Logging RSVPs
- Party favors - bring the makings for whatever you have in mind; we'll embellish as desired
High Tea & Hostess Certificate Ceremony (3:30-5pm) - During this lovely leisurely time each hostess will get to share the party planning work she has accomplished today; be prepared for oooh, ahhhs & huzzahs!
The Morning After (9-11am)
- Hat Box Breakfast Picnic in the park for our overnight socialites (9-10am) - grab a hatbox brimming with light and lovely morning delectables, compliments of Joie de Vivre Lifestyle
- Morning Stroll (10-11am) - amble along paved winding pathways with views of small lakes and a selection of feathered friends
- Gracious Goodbye (11am) as we send you on your merry way, bound for entertaining glory
