Perfect your feminine powers at this intoxicating Glamour Getaway in coastal Long Beach, CA where you will spend the weekend in the exotic and magical world of the jinn.

Session Pre-requisite: N/A, other than the ability to participate in singing, drumming or barefoot belly dance, which is optional; session is held in a private space, closed to the public. Packing list: Walking shoes for our outings, optional dance practice &/or performance apparel, evening out attire & overnight items
Day #1 - 9am-4pm for basic session (elective evening activities end around 10pm)
- Light Breakfast (8-9am): For our overnight genies
- The Bottle Opens (9-11am): Travel back to the ancient and mythical world of the jinn and learn what really went on in the vastness of the desert... as well as the harem. Includes a mid-morning Turkish coffee break
- Lunch Break (11am-1pm) Please feel free to join us at The Magic Lamp in the charming Belmont Shore area, rife with all sorts of fun shops and boutiques
- Grains of Art (1-2pm): The Arabian desert was a veritable sea... of sand. While we are blocks from the beach we will let our lunch settle while trying our hands at a few of the various forms of sand art. You may want to bring a beach towel or chair
- Song, Dance & Trance (2-4pm) Stretch your limbs or lungs as we learn a bit about Middle Eastern music and dance. You may choose to dance, sing or be part of the drum circle. The first half of our session will involve basic instruction including language. The second half will focus on learning a song and routine for performance tomorrow evening. Includes a mid-session break
- CrafTea Session (4-5pm): Sip Moroccan tea as you paint your house, i.e. genie bottle!
- Evening Respite (5-7pm): Grant yourself a well-deserved wish with an Aromatherapy Massage spa treatment; learn how to play Mancala, the world's oldest board game; or just enjoy some relaxing quiet time at our little urban oasis.
- Dinner & Rumi-nation (7-10pm): For those staying with us through the arabian night, we will dine onsite by lamplight, enjoying one another's company as well as some poems by Rumi and traditional Hakawati - the ancient arabic art of storytelling.
- Light Breakfast (8-9am): For our overnight genies
- Making Music (9-11am): We head straight to the dance tent this morning to practice and perfect our song and dance. Includes mid-session refreshment break
- Lunch Break (11am-12noon) Exotic salad buffet, onsite
- I Dream of Fashion (12noon-2pm): Learn about the opulent traditions of jinn and bellydance wear from ancient times to modern day, from Egypt to America. We will use the last part of this session to embellish our harem wear for tonight's performance. Includes mint tea break
- Looming Lore / Last Chance Dance (2-3:30pm): From Persian rugs to flying carpets we'll pull the rug back on this enduring and often extravagant art form. Includes Mini Flying Carpet craft (think coaster or mouse pad) and mid-session beverage break ... OR... you may use this time to perfect our song and dance for tonight's performance
- Afternoon Respite (3:30-5:30): Spoil yourself with an Egyptian massage or Threading spa treatment; enjoy some relaxing personal time, or begin your genie transformation in preparation of your jinn performance tonight. Professional makeup & hair styling available from 4:30-5:30pm.
- Refreshment Reception & Photo Session (5:30-6:30pm): Pose for a Professional Photography Shoot in your genie finery or just mingle as you enjoy a variety of middle eastern appetizer treats
- Jinn performance (6:30-7pm): Whether you choose to twirl like a dervish or cheer from the comfort of a cushion, come celebrate this ancient art form, created by women for women
- Dinner (7-10pm): For those not yet ready to leave the company of the jinn, join us for an authentic dinner and professional belly dance performance at Babouch
The Morning After 8am-1pm
- Lightning Fast Breakfast (8-8:30am): For our overnight jinn
- Yoga (10-11:30am): Gentle Restorative Yoga class at Kava Yoga
- Salaam Send-off (11:30am-1pm): Our last middle eastern meal, at Open Sesame. From there we bid our genies happiness, health and safe travels
