Dance Diva Booty Camp

Do you love to dance?  


Have you always wanted to try belly dancing?  Or twirl your hips like one of those exotic island girls in Tahiti?  Did you ever dream of being a Can-Can dancer at the Moulin Rouge?  Well now's your chance!  

Come trip the light fantastic with us as we take a whirlwind tour of the world of dance at this fitness-based camp hosted in coastal Long Beach, CA.  Come prepared to sweat and smile and workout like no one's watching! Note: this dance forms offered here vary slightly from those offered as part of our 2-day Dance Diva Sampler.  (Price options and discounts listed at the bottom of the page.)  

All sessions include dance instruction and light refreshments. (Extras in rose italics: additional meals, accommodations, spa treatments, excursions. Meals are served onsite unless otherwise noted.)

The Night Before (6-9pm): If you are able to soft shoe your way into town the night before we start shaking our booties, join us for a dinner set in an atmosphere fit for a diva at la Creperie.

Pre-requisite: ability to participate in a variety of easy-to-follow dance forms, some of which you are welcome to perform barefoot for best effect; Sessions begin with an introduction to the featured dance style to be taught.  Two dance genres are taught each day, with each teaching segment lasting 2 hours, for a total of 4 hours of dance each day.... Don't worry, you can go at your own pace and we do take breaks.... you'll be fine! Packing List: dance workout apparel, jazz shoes or basic gym trainers, casual apparel & overnight items

Day #1 Go East!
9am-3:30pm for basic session (optional breakfast served at 8am, elective evening activities end around 9pm)
  • Tai Chi (7-8am)
  • Healthy Breakfast (8-9am)
  • Morning Session (9-11:30): Start your dance tour in Arabia with Bellydance! 
  • Lunch Break (11:30-1pm) - Indian cuisine
  • Afternoon Session (1-3:30pm): Journey down the Silk Road with us for some Chinese Fan & formations dancing
  • Afternoon Respite (3:30-4:30pm): Take a breather or take tea  
  • Regroup, Reward, Relax (4:30-6:30): Choose either a one hour Yoga class, a Aromatherapy Massage, or some personal quiet time
  • Dinner Break (6:30-8pm) - Chinese take-out!
  • Last Dance (8-9pm):  Join in a free-for-all dance fest, featuring everyone's international favorite, a Disco party!

Day #2 
Dance-Dance

9am-3:30pm for basic session (optional breakfast served at 8am, elective evening activities end around 9pm)
  • Tai Chi (7-8am)
  • Healthy Breakfast (8-9am)
  • Morning Session (9-11:30): Bonjour!  Welcome to yes you Can-Can class 
  • Lunch Break (11:30-1pm) - Crepes, yum
  • Afternoon Session (1-3:30pm): The boots are higher and so are the skirts. Travel back to the groovy 60's.  You Go-Go girl!
  • Afternoon Respite (3:30-4:30pm): Take a breather or take tea  
  • Regroup, Reward, Relax (4:30-6:30): Choose either a one hour Ballet class, a Reflexology Massage, or some personal quiet time
  • Dinner Break (6:30-8pm) - Make a friend and enjoy a melting pot of fondue
  • Last Dance (8-9pm):  Fast forward 20 years to get loose.... footloose at a Totally Rad 80's party

Day #3 Welcome to the Islands
9am-3:30pm for basic session (optional breakfast served at 8am, elective evening activities end around 9pm)
  • Tai Chi (7-8am)
  • Healthy Breakfast (8-9am)
  • Morning Session (9-11:30): Aloha! It's time for some Polynesian dance 
  • Lunch Break (11:30-1pm) - Tropical delights await
  • Afternoon Session (1-3:30pm): Next we head to Trinidad for some infectious Calypso
  • Afternoon Respite (3:30-4:30pm): Take a breather or take tea  
  • Regroup, Reward, Relax (4:30-6:30): Choose either a one hour Pilates class, a Hot Stone Massage, or some personal quiet time
  • Dinner Break (6:30-8pm) - "Doubles" and other Trinidad treats
  • Last Dance (8-9pm):  Extend your island stay with a variety of zany island party dances with everything from Greek Isle folk dancing to Limbo, a Conga Line... you get the idea 

Day #4 Latin Fever
9am-3:30pm for basic session (optional breakfast served at 8am, elective evening activities end around 9pm)
  • Tai Chi (7-8am)
  • Healthy Breakfast (8-9am)
  • Morning Session (9-11:30): Buenos Dias Senorita, grab your castanets,  it's time for Flamenco
  • Lunch Break (11:30-1pm) - Tapas! 
  • Afternoon Session (1-3:30pm): It's Salsa time - Ole!
  • Afternoon Respite (3:30-4:30pm): Take a breather or take tea  
  • Regroup, Reward, Relax (4:30-6:30): Choose either a one hour Yoga class, a Latin Rhythm Massage, or some personal quiet time
  • Dinner Break (6:30-8pm) - Mex to the max
  • Last Dance (8-9pm):  Add a little Tex to your Mex with some Country Western Line Dancing
Day #5 - Jazz Baby
9am-3:30pm for basic session (optional breakfast served at 8am, elective evening activities end around 9pm)
  • Tai Chi (7-8am)
  • Healthy Breakfast (8-9am)
  • Morning Session (9-11:30): Celebrate suffrage flapper style with the Charleston 
  • Lunch Break (11:30-1pm) - 1920's fare... and all that jazz
  • Afternoon Session (1-3:30pm): Channel Broadway Bob with some sassy Fosse Jazz
  • Afternoon Respite (3:30-4:30pm): Take a breather or take tea  
  • Dinner Break (6:30-8pm) - NYC cuisine (from Waldorf salad to cheesecake) 
  • Regroup, Reward, Relax (4:30-6:30): Choose either a one hour Pilates class, a classic Swedish Massage, or some personal quiet time
  • Last Dance (9:30-11pm): Finish off your day of Americana with a 1950's Sock Hop   



Day #6 On the Lyrical Side 
9am-3:30pm for basic session (optional breakfast served at 8am, elective evening activities end around 10pm)
  • Tai Chi (7-8am)
  • Healthy Breakfast (8-9am)
  • Morning Session (9-11:30): Break out your argyle socks and get ready for a wee bit of fun with Scottish Highland Dance
  • Lunch Break (11:30-1pm) - Scotch pies, Colcannon and other Scottish delicacies; don't worry... no Haggis
  • Afternoon Session (1-3:30pm): The big top comes to camp at this floor-based Cirque arts class
  • Afternoon Respite (3:30-4:30pm): Take a breather or take tea  
  • Regroup, Reward, Relax (4:30-6:30): Choose either a one hour Ballet class, a warm oil Lyrical Massage, or some personal quiet time
  • Dinner Break (5:30-9:30pm) Battle of the Dance Dinner & Show (1/2 price-ish tix through Goldstar)

The Morning After 9-10:30am
  • Dancing Fool's Farewell Breakfast (9-11am): Our overnight performing artists will spend their last moments together dining at Claire's Cafe at the Long Beach Museum of Art, overlooking the Pacific.  Lingerers may stay and tour the museum exhibits or stroll on the beach
